Border Patrol Agents Arrest 3 After Shootout Unfolds in Front of Them in Southwest Detroit

3 people were arrested after U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Detroit Station witnessed an exchange of shots being fired between two vehicles near Homer and Elsmere in Southwest Detroit today.

According to a CBP spokesperson, while conducting unrelated law enforcement activities this morning, near the intersection of Homer and Elsmere in Detroit; U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Detroit Station witnessed an exchange of shots between two vehicles.

As one of the vehicles sped away, agents moved in and took three suspects from the second vehicle into custody.

Authorities have shared a description and partial license plate of the fleeing vehicle with law enforcement partners.

The case remains under investigation, and U.S. Border Patrol is working with federal and local agencies to pursue criminal charges.

Officials confirmed no shots were fired by or at Border Patrol agents, and no injuries were reported among those arrested.

U.S. Border Patrol Detroit Sector Chief Patrol Agent John Morris stated, “Our agents quickly intervened in what could have been a tragic situation, placing themselves in harm’s way to protect others. Their decisive action led to the safe apprehension of multiple armed suspects without injury to any bystanders or agents. This is a testament to our agents’ unwavering dedication to keeping our communities and our nation safe.”
