Board and Tour Tall Ships at Sail Detroit Festival

Tall ships have sailed back to the Motor City for the first time in more than two decades.

The Sail Detroit Festival is set for Friday, August 8 through Sunday, August 10, bringing four majestic tall ships to dock along the Detroit Riverfront in front of the Port Authority headquarters between Hart Plaza and the Renaissance Center.

The event, organized by the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority, is family-friendly and open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can view the ships for free from the Riverwalk. Tickets are required to board the ships and talk to the crews.

Once docked, guests can board the ships, meet crew members, and enjoy educational displays, maritime history exhibits, and live entertainment.

Ticket Prices

• Adults: $25

• Children, seniors, military: $15

• Family Pass (4 people): $60

• Anytime Pass: $100

• Special sailing aboard Alliance: $75 for a 1.5-hour cruise on the Detroit River
