Biden says he brags about Duggan & Detroit after drop in unemployment, homicide & increase in scholarship funding

President Joe Biden and Mayor Michael Duggan meet this week to discuss where some of the American Rescue Plan funding has gone.

After sitting with Duggan, President Biden posted on X, Formally known as Twitter, that he brags about him and the city of Detroit.

“There’s a reason I brag on Mayor Duggan and Detroit – they embody the comeback that’s happening across America,” Biden said on X. “Mike knows it’s not just about the investment, but the scholarships created from it. I couldn’t be prouder to see our Rescue Plan work for working folks in Detroit.”

Some of the points Biden made were Detroit’s unemployment is going down; homicides are at the lowest since 1966, people are getting paid more, affordable housing, new parks, and 100 million has been available to help students pay for their education. More on detroitmi.gov/detroitforlife.

“You brought back the city. You brought back Detroit,” Biden told Duggan.
