Barkside, a dog park & bar, to open second location in Southfield

Barkside is expanding to a second location in Southfield, with a grand opening set for Summer.

The Southfield location at 15640 West Eleven Mile Road will have 6,000 square feet of indoor, climate-controlled space and 7,000 square feet outdoors.

Dogs can run, roam, and socialize year-round due to dog-friendly mulch, proper drainage, and a fully fenced-in play area, according to @barksidedetroit . Smaller dogs will also have their own separate sections—both indoors and outdoors—so they can enjoy time off-leash without worrying about bigger pups.

Along with the off-leash areas, Barkside will serve a variety of beverages, including Michigan-made 🍺, craft cocktails, 🍷, mocktails, and coffee.

Expect a lineup of events like trivia nights, breed meetups, movie nights, dog yoga, and puppy training sessions. The venue will also host dog birthday parties and other celebrations.

Barkside is a membership-based space. All dogs must be up to date on their shots. Dogs must also be at least six months old, and spayed or neutered if they’re one year or older On-site, Barkside employs Rufferees – trained professionals specializing in canine behavior – who monitor play areas to ensure every bark, wag, and zoomie happens in a safe environment.

Their first location opened in 2023 in Detroit. 📸: @barksidedetroit / Stucky-Vitale Architects
