An altercation between two employees at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital escalated into a shooting Thursday morning in the hospital’s parking structure.
Authorities say a 25-year-old male victim pulled into the parking garage when he was followed by the suspect at around 7:00 a.m. Moments later, five shots were fired, striking the victim in the arm and damaging his vehicle. The victim is expected to be Okay.
The suspect immediately fled the scene. Troy police responded and began clearing the hospital.
Law enforcement tracked the suspect, who was later taken into custody in Macomb Township.
Police confirm both men worked in the hospital and had a prior friendship. However, a falling out between them contributed to the altercation and then the shooting. Both worked in the radiology department, according to sources.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting. As of now, no further details have been released.
