Air quality alert issued for Metro Detroit as Canadian Wildfire smoke returns

Metro Detroit is under its sixth air quality advisory of the season as temperatures climb toward the 90s.

Wildfire smoke from Canada is drifting south, blanketing much of Michigan with haze and reducing air quality.

The primary concern is exposure to fine particulate matter, which can pose serious health risks when inhaled. Health officials are urging sensitive groups to limit outdoor activity during the advisory.

Drone footage from this morning shows the smoke as it moves in.
