2 dead in separate Detroit house fires one hour apart

A woman has died, and two children were rushed to the hospital after a house fire early Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out around 10:00 a.m. at a home on San Juan, near Livernois and 8 Mile.

Six people were living in the house. The father had to throw the baby out of the window.

A 3-year-old and 14-year-old was rushed to the hospital with severe burns. Both are listed in critical condition.

According to a Detroit Fire Department spokesperson, firefighters responded with 4 minutes. An adult female was found deceased. Neighbors say it was the children’s grandmother.

This marks the second fatal house fire of the morning.

Around 9:00 a.m., firefighters responded to a blaze on Clippert Street near Michigan Avenue and Livernois. Crews arrived within four minutes, but tragically, an adult male and his puppy did not survive.
