New footage shows major progress on the Gordie Howe International Bridge, which is nearly complete and expected to open in fall 2025.
The six-lane, cable-stayed bridge stretches across the Detroit River and will connect I-75 in Detroit directly to Highway 401 in Windsor. It will be the first direct freeway-to-freeway border crossing in the area.
The $6 billion (Canadian) bridge project is funded by the Canadian government.
The Gordie Howe Bridge is designed with advanced security systems and a smoother traffic setup. Officials say the new span will help boost trade, ease border delays, and help with economic growth on both sides of the border.
Crews also installed a new sign this on I-75 pointing drivers to the future crossing.
