Drive-By Shooting Damages Six Windows at Detroit’s Coleman A. Young Municipal Center

Police are looking for the driver of a gray sedan after a drive-by incident damaged multiple windows at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center early Friday morning.

First Assistant Chief Charles Fitzgerald says the incident occurred around 4:49 a.m. when the vehicle was seen traveling westbound on Jefferson Avenue.

Six windows on the south side of the building were damaged.

The vehicle then continued to Shelby Street, circled around, and came back up Larned Street, where another shot was fired at the north side of the building before the car fled the area.

Despite several people sitting nearby on a bench, no one reacted and there were no 911 calls. Police believe the weapon used may have been a pellet or BB gun, as no one reported hearing any shooting.

“What stands out is the pure stupidity of it. They know exactly where they’re at. It’s not funny. It’s not a game to us. We’re going to find you, and we’re going to hold you accountable,” said Fitzgerald.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a gray-colored sedan. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detroit police.
