DDOT Driver Charged After Stabbing Rider Who Spit on Him During Argument Over Free Ride

A DDOT bus driver has been charged after allegedly stabbing a passenger during an argument over bus fare.

The incident happened on July 1, 2025, near 7 Mile and Greenfield on Detroit’s west side. Police say the situation escalated when the passenger demanded a free ride.

The passenger then allegedly spat on the driver. The driver then stabbed the passenger. The driver was arrested at the scene and the passenger is expected to be OK.

The 55-year-old driver, identified as Troy A. Lincoln, is now facing multiple felony charges, including:
• Assault with Intent to Murder
• Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder
• Felonious Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

The bus driver was arraigned on July 4 and issued a $50,000 bond, with a 10%.
