Suspect Strikes Bank worker in the Head with Axe During Southfield Robbery

Police are investigating a bank robbery that took place Tuesday afternoon in Southfield.

Around 12:34 p.m. on July 1, 2025, officers were called to the PNC Bank at 28720 Northwestern Highway near 12 Mile after a robbery was reported in progress.

According to police, a 55-year-old Southfield man entered the bank armed with an axe and demanded money.

After receiving cash, the suspect struck a female employee in the head and fled the scene in a vehicle. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital by fire rescue and is in stable condition.

Using technology, officers tracked the suspect’s movements and found he had traveled to Detroit. At about 1:33 p.m., the man was taken into custody near Greenfield Road and Joy Road.
