A 38-year-old woman is facing charges after police say she opened fire on a repo driver last Thursday on Detroit’s east side.
The incident unfolded on Nottingham Road, near Morang Avenue and I-94, when officers witnessed a woman shoot multiple times at a repo man who was towing a vehicle linked to her husband.
Police say the woman, identified in court records as Shaquanda Tankersley, fired several shots at the driver, prompting nearby police officers to shoot her. Tankersley was hit and taken to the hospital.
She was formally charged with assault with intent to murder and felony firearm during an arraignment on Monday. Prosecutors told the judge that she allegedly chased the repo truck on foot before firing shots.
The judge set bond at $50,000 cash or surety. Tankersley entered a not guilty plea.
