A new bill introduced in the Michigan House would require photos and signatures to be printed on Bridge Cards used for food and cash assistance.
House Bill 4515, by a group of Republican lawmakers, aims to add a layer of security to the state’s electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards. If passed, the law would require the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to place a digital photo and signature of the cardholder directly on the Bridge Card.
Backers of the bill say this would help prevent fraud and misuse of public benefits.
