Dearborn Man, Once a Palestinian Refugee, Now Owns $600 Million Company, Featured in NY Times

Mike Musheinesh of Dearborn, a 44-year-old Palestinian who was born in a Syrian refugee camp and moved to the U.S. in 1987, was featured in a recent New York Times article discussing the impact of U.S.-China trade tensions on his company, Detroit Axle.

Raised in East Dearborn, Musheinesh now oversees the $600 million auto parts company that his family founded as Dearborn Axle before expanding and rebranding.

The business employs 1,000 people across facilities in Michigan, Texas, Mexico, Jordan, and China.

Despite sourcing 75% of auto parts from China, Musheinesh initially supported President Trump’s tariff strategy, but with no trade deal in sight, he has since become less optimistic.

To mitigate financial strain, he has expanded sales to Mexico and partnered with a factory in Turkey. You can read more about the article on The New York Times website.
