A 31-year-old Allen Park man has been arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing death of his grandmother.
Ian Andrew Sharpe was arraigned Monday in 24th District Court in Allen Park. He is charged with three felony counts, including:
• First-Degree Premeditated Murder
• Tampering with Evidence
He was denied bond and remains in custody, according to authorities.
On April 16, 2025, just after 7:20 p.m., Allen Park police responded to a well-being check in the 10000 block of Allen Pointe Drive. According to a news release, a family member had reported not being able to reach his 84-year-old mother, Patricia Jean Anderson, or his son, who lived with her.
When officers entered the condo, they found signs of a struggle. Blood was visible on the walls and carpet, and the grandmother’s car—a 2024 white Ford Edge—was missing.
Investigators reviewed license plate cameras and tracked the vehicle to Detroit. They also used cell phone data to narrow down the search area near Prairie St., American St., and Burnette St.
On April 17 at 11:40 a.m., officers spotted Sharpe walking near McDonald and Sarena Streets in Detroit. He was taken into custody without incident.
Later that afternoon around 4:00 p.m., Anderson’s missing vehicle was located on Military Street.
On April 19 at 4:30 p.m., detectives discovered Patricia Anderson’s body in a field near Tillman and Breckenridge Streets in Detroit. She had been stabbed multiple times, officials said.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy’s office formally announced the charges on Monday, stating Sharpe allegedly fatally stabbed his grandmother, moved her body to a different location, and attempted to cover up the crime.
“Please beware of the signs of potential domestic violence. The signs may not always show themselves but knowing what they are can be beneficial to us all,” said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
