The suspect in Thursday’s shooting at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital was arraigned Sunday on multiple felonies.
Police say a 25-year-old employee was in the hospital’s parking garage when 21-year-old Robert Paljusevic allegedly followed him. Moments later, five shots were fired—striking the victim in the arm and damaging his vehicle. He is expected to recover.
Paljusevic fled but was later arrested in Macomb Township. Both men worked at the hospital and were previously friends.
Paljusevic was arraigned Saturday in 52-1 District Court on charges including Assault with Intent to Murder. He was denied bond.
In court, disturbing new details emerged. Tensions reportedly escalated after the death of the victim’s father in January 2025. The victim’s family held a private viewing, which Paljusevic was not invited to. At one public service, he allegedly said to the casket, “Your c––sucking son wouldn’t invite me to meet you.”
Investigators say a FaceTime call followed, where Paljusevic urinated on funeral brochures and prayer cards for the victim’s father while the victim watched.
The victim’s mother told police Paljusevic had grown highly possessive of her son. She believes her son cut off contact afterward, which may have triggered the suspect’s anger, according to authorities.
Coworkers interviewed by police described Paljusevic as aggressive and argumentative. They said he was very “patriotic about his Albanian heritage” and known for saying things like, “When I get mad, I see red.” He allegedly made frequent vulgar remarks and bragged about bar fights.
In early March, the victim reportedly confronted Paljusevic about the urination incident. Paljusevic allegedly replied, “You deserved that. You’ll see.”
Detectives say after his arrest, Paljusevic laughed. When asked if he knew why he was in custody, he said, “Yeah, I kind of figured.” He requested an attorney and made no further statements.
The gun and suspect’s phone have not been recovered.
