Police shut down large car gathering after complaints of drag racing

A large gathering at a Royal Oak plaza was shut down by police Friday night after reports of drag racing and excessive noise.

Videos show officers with tow trucks blocking the entrances of Normandy Plaza on Woodward, and boxing drivers inside.

According to Royal Oak Police, they responded to complaints of noise and drag racing from residents and businesses.

“The Normandy Plaza parking lot was completely packed with cars and people, and we cleared it out,” a department spokesman said.

Police did not provide exact numbers on citations or vehicles towed but said that no arrests were made.
