Patient dies after jumping out of window at Henry Ford Hospital, under investigation

A patient at Henry Ford Hospital died earlier this week after jumping from a fourth-floor window.

The incident happened Monday at Henry Ford Hospital, located at Grand Blvd in Detroit, at around 6:30a.m.

The 35-year-old patient got out of bed, broke a window, and jumped. He landed in the hospital parking lot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sources familiar with the incident tell MDN that the patient was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a patient sitter was there at the time of the incident.

In a statement, a Henry Ford Health spokesperson said:

“We are heartbroken by the tragic incident that occurred on the Henry Ford Hospital campus. We extend our heartfelt support to everyone affected. Our team members work heroically every day to safeguard our patients’ well-being. Their safety, and that of our patients, will always be our greatest priority.”
