Over 100 metro Detroit schools close Thursday due to severe ice storm

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory across Southeast Michigan from 10 PM today through 9 AM Thursday due to an expected ice storm.

A mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected to create hazardous travel conditions and widespread disruptions. In anticipation of the icy conditions, schools across Metro Detroit have announced closures for Thursday, February 6, 2025.

Some school districts include: Detroit Public Schools Community District, Woodhaven-Brownstown Schools, Wyandotte Public Schools, River Rouge Schools, Inkster Public Schools, Grosse Pointe Public Schools, Ferndale Public Schools, Harper Woods Schools, Livonia and Oakland University.
