Hundreds of protesters took to the streets today as part of the nationwide “Day Without Immigrants” movement, a demonstration highlighting the vital role immigrants play in the U.S. economy and society.
Marching from Southwest Detroit to Michigan Central Station, participants condemned President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan.
The movement, which has gained momentum across the country, urged immigrants and their supporters to stay home from work and school to protest while encouraging businesses to shut down in solidarity.
