Detroit to install 450 cameras on freeways

The City of Detroit has begun installing 450 surveillance cameras across its freeways to combat violent crime and shootings.

The cameras will be placed along I-94, I-96, I-75, M-10 (Lodge Freeway), and M-8 (Davison Freeway), providing law enforcement with real-time and recorded video footage of freeway activity.

By integrating high-definition surveillance cameras and license plate readers, police hope to deter crime and locate vehicles suspected of being involved in violent crimes.

Detroit Police Department officials confirmed that an initial batch of cameras has already been installed along I-94. (News & information release only)
