A Republican-funded group has launched a campaign in Michigan aimed at confusing and dividing voters by sending out ads portraying Vice President Kamala Harris in two very different lights: as both “pro-Israel” and as “pandering to Palestine.”
These ads appear to support her but are really just sending mixed messages. They are meant to try target Muslim and Arab voters as the 2024 election nears.
The messages and flyers were sent to areas with large Arab-American communities, such as Dearborn, Michigan. That version of the ad claims that Harris is strongly “pro-Israel,” emphasizing her support for Israel and suggesting that she is viewed negatively by pro-Palestinian activists.
Meanwhile, in other regions, ads cast doubt on Harris’s support for Israel, suggesting she hasn’t done enough and implying that she sympathizes with protesters critical of Israel.
This effort by the PAC, backed by Republican interests, is part of a broader strategy to create division.
