An investigation is underway of a fatal officer-involved shooting in Detroit.
The incident occurred Tuesday night near Balduck Park in the area of Chandler Park & Canyon.
According to authorities, officers were on routine patrol when they saw a suspect who was known for narcotic possession. When they ran his name, they learned he had a parole violation, authorities said.
Officers parked their car, then approached the suspect and that’s when he fired shots at police. One shot struck a patrol car, police said in a news presser. Officers returned fire and fatally struck the suspect.
No officers were injured. The suspect has a lengthy criminal history, according to police.
The incident happened while kids were at football practice. Fortunately, none of the kids were injured.
