Starting today, over 1,900 food establishments across Detroit will display new color-coded placards as part of the city’s “Dining with Confidence” ordinance, aimed at ensuring transparency and public safety regarding food inspections, according to officials.
The new ordinance, which uses green, white, and red placards to indicate an establishment’s compliance with Michigan’s Food Safety Code, according to a news release
The new placards will raise awareness of these inspections and provide incentives for establishments to correct violations quickly, officials said.
Green Placard (In Compliance): Indicates the establishment has passed its inspection, with no serious food safety violations, and holds a valid food service license.
– Red Placard (Closed): Indicates the establishment is closed due to serious health risks, failure to comply with the safety code, or lacks a valid food service license.
– White Placard (Temporary):Issued to establishments with pending corrections or those in the enforcement process. Establishments in good standing awaiting their next scheduled inspection can request a white placard.
