Labor Day is approaching and this is one way you can stay safe in the waters at Huron-Clinton Metropark. @mimetroparks
Metroparks offer free life jackets.
These life jackets are available for both adults and children and can be found at every beach and pool. The life jacket loaner stations have been in place for nearly five years.
Even strong swimmers should consider wearing a life jacket, especially in open water. Always supervise children near water, and designate a “water watcher” to keep a close eye on swimmers at all times.
Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1-4. To help prevent these tragedies, Metroparks offers free swimming lessons for both children and adults. Visit www.metroparks.com/swim-lessons to find lessons near you.
Metroparks also plans to increase the number of certified lifeguards and swim instructors in Southeast Michigan, with the goal of keeping Metroparksfacilities and partner swim lesson sites fully staffed all season long by 2028.
