A metro Detroit man has been charged after allegedly selling several stolen guns to an undercover federal agent, including a gun stolen from a Detroit police officer.
In June and July 2024, Darnell Danner sold multiple firearms to an ATF agent who was working undercover.
On June 11, 2024, Danner sold a Glock Model 22, .40 caliber pistol to the undercover agent.
On July 2, 2024, in Detroit, Danner sold a Glock Model 48, 9mm caliber pistol to the agent. This gun had been reported stolen in February 2024.
On July 10, Danner sold a Smith & Wesson Model MP40 to the undercover agent.
Further investigation revealed that the Smith & Wesson pistol was a Detroit Police Department-issued firearm. The “Detroit PD” markings and the department serial number were visible on the gun. The firearm had been stolen from a Detroit police officer in October 2014, according to the complaint.
“There were scratches and gouges over the ‘Detroit PD’ markings, suggesting that there was an unsuccessful attempt to deface these markings,” the complaint reads.
