A man was shot multiple times by a Wayne County Sheriff Deputy while on Belle Isle in Detroit.
The incident happened at around 11:00 a.m. Monday.
The Wayne County Sheriff Tether unit was attempting to arrest a suspect charged with criminal sexual conduct and did not show up to court.
During the arrest, the suspect pointed the gun at cops. Police fired shots and the absconder was struck. The male was rushed to a local hospital in serious condition. There were no injuries to the public or police.
The Michigan State Police, Special Investigation Section is handling the investigation.
