1 dead after crash on I-75

I-75 in Detroit is closed due to a fatal crash Thursday morning.

Police say two separate crashes happened at the same time on Southbound I 75 near 8 Mile Road.

A 37-year-old Oak Park male driver of an SUV was traveling in the left lane when he lost control due to speed. The SUV slid across all lanes of travel and struck the bridge support, coming to a stop in the right lane. The driver had minor injuries.

A 26-year-old Chesterfield male driver of a Chevy Cruze lost control due to speed and, struck the bridge support and came to a stop in the left lane.

Another driver of a Dodge Avenger was driving in the left lane and struck the Chevy Cruze that was stopped in the left lane. The driver of the Dodge Avenger had minor injuries.

The driver of the Chevy Cruze was pronounced dead on the scene. The freeway remains closed.
