Detroit police have launched a massive search for a 13-year-old girl who went missing after getting off a school bus on the city’s east side.
Na’ziyah Harris was last seen on January 9, 2024, in the area of Cornwall and Three Mile Drive around 2:50 pm after exiting her school bus. The family reported her missing on January 10.
Officials say that Detroit Public Schools Community District Police first handled the investigation, but after being missing for over a month, a meeting was held with Detroit police on February 12.
After the meeting, police said they were ‘very, very’ concerned about her well-being. Detroit police are now the lead agency and are getting assistance from state and federal law enforcement.
Police and community members are also now out in the area doing grid searches and handing out flyers.
Police describe her as 5’2”, 130lbs, medium complexion, hair braided into two puff balls, wearing a light blue jean shirt, light blue jean pants/Pink and White Rug Rat coat with a fur collar and blue/white Nike gym shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detroit police at 313-596-2260.
