A Detroit man faces charges after an alleged armed robbery and sexual assault in Northville Township.
On Jan. 20, 2024, the Northville Township Police Department responded to the area of Eight Mile Road and Silver Spring Drive for a report of an armed robbery. The investigation found the victim was lured outside of his residence and violently assaulted, police said.
The suspect then allegedly forced the victim, at gunpoint, back into his residence, where he continued assaulting the victim. The suspect then allegedly sexually assaulted a female who also was inside the residence, while holding the male victim and a 1-year-old child at gunpoint.
On Feb. 5, in a coordinated effort involving the Northville Township Detective Bureau, FBI SWAT, FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, and Michigan State Police, search warrants were executed at residences in Taylor and Detroit, officials said.
The operation resulted in the apprehension of 29-year-old Detroit resident Javon Bryant Anderson and a second involved individual.
Anderson was charged and arraigned Feb. 8 at the 35th District Court with 26 felonies. They included first-degree criminal sexual conduct, armed robbery, kidnapping, home invasion, assault less than murder, felon in possession of a firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon and felony firearm offenses.
Anderson’s bond was set at $500,000. The second individual arrested was transferred to federal custody to face federal weapons charges.
