Detroit Mumford’s Ja’Marcus Smith is the first wrestler from a Detroit public school to win a state wrestling championship.
Smith won the Division 2 title in the 103-pound weight class and finished the year 19-1. Smith was also the first wrestler from the district and league to compete for a state championship.
Mumford is currently the only team with a wrestling program in the PSL.
