7 arrested in car-jacking spree, Detroit police stop them as they attempt to rob Durango

Detroit police have arrested seven suspects who are allegedly responsible for at least five car-jackings.

The arrest and officer-involved shooting occurred Saturday night on Conant Street and Outer Drive on the east side.

Video obtained by MDN captures the latest incident unfolding.

According to Detroit police chief Todd Bettison, undercover officers were doing surveillance on multiple suspects.

As police were conducting surveillance on the suspects, they observed them attempting to rob another person at the gas station of his Durango.

Officers then got out of their vehicles and confronted the suspects. During the confrontation, one suspect pointed his g.un at officers and officers fired shots at the suspect, chief said.

One suspect was hit in the arm, while the other suspects fled the scene and were later arrested after a chase that ended in a crash in the area of I-75 and 7 Mile. No officers were injured.
