3 students charged after bringing gun to school, taking pictures with it in the bathroom, officials say

Three students from Center Line High School in Macomb County are facing criminal charges after they brought a weapon to school on May 13.

According to a news release, two students were charged with:

    •    Count 1: Lying to a Peace Officer
    •    Count 2: Weapons Free School Zone, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 93 days in jail

A third student, who allegedly brought it into the school, is facing more serious charges.

Center Line Public Schools, which is located near Warren, Michigan, was placed under lockdown for approximately 50 minutes while law enforcement and school staff conducted an investigation, ultimately locating the gun.

The incident reportedly involved multiple students meeting in a school restroom to take photos with the weapon.

The investigation remains ongoing.
