3 shot, 1 dead after random shooting by suspect near Oxford High school

3 people have been shot in what police call a ‘random shooting’ in Oxford on Christmas Eve.

The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on Ray Road between Lapeer and N. Oxford Roads, near Oxford High School.

One of the victims of the shooting has passed away while the other two are hospitalized, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media release.

Police say that the incident appears to be completely ‘random’ with the suspect just passing through the community when he went off on a violent spree at multiple locations.

He was arrested on the scene. Police say he is a convicted felon, and the investigation is ongoing. (News & information release only)
