3 people shot during shootout in Inkster

Inkster police are investigating a shooting that left three people injured.

The incident occurred on Inkster Road near Michigan Ave Thursday afternoon.

Police say 3 people were injured in a shootout at the location.

All 3 people were listed in stable condition. The suspect remains on the run.

Inkster Police Department Chief Tamika L. Jenkins release the following statement:

“As Chief of Police for the City of Inkster, I want to make it clear that gun violence in our community will not be tolerated. The safety and well-being of our residents is my top priority, and we are taking a firm stance against those who continue to endanger lives and disrupt the peace of our neighborhoods.”

“To the parents of children who are out here causing chaos in our streets—you will be held accountable. If your child is involved in violent activity, you share responsibility for their actions. We are no longer going to turn a blind eye to neglect or willful ignorance. It is your duty to know where your children are, who they are with, and what they are doing.”

“We are also putting homeowners and property owners on notice. If your home is being used as a base for illegal activity, whether that’s harboring weapons, harboring criminals, or enabling violent gatherings, you too will be held accountable. Our message is simple: if you allow violence to fester on your property, you are part of the problem.”

“This department is committed to working with community members, city leaders, and our justice partners to restore safety, order, and trust. We will continue to increase patrols, investigate aggressively, and enforce every available measure under the law to protect this city.”

“Gun violence has no place in community.”
