A Clinton Township man’s life was saved by three Algonquin Middle School students riding their bikes after school on Monday.
Daniel Bomar, Legend Washington, and Anthony Allen were on their way home riding bikes on Foster Dr. when they discovered an unconscious man laying behind his car outside. The man was not visible to people in cars and was only spotted because the boys were on bikes.
The three boys immediately began to render aid, they attempted to wake the unconscious man and ran to his home to notify his wife to call 911. Within minutes CPR was performed.
It was discovered that the male suffered a cardiac emergency, and because of their actions emergency services were activated within five minutes of the subject collapsing, officials said. The first officer on scene observed the male did not have a pulse and was able to administer CPR within a few minutes of the call and continued until EMS arrived.
The man was treated and transported to McLaren Hospital where he is receiving continued care with a strong pulse. Legend recognized the man as his neighbor who once helped him fix his bike.
Police say the man would not have survived without the quick actions of the boys.
