3 killed after car crosses I-94 median, hits oncoming traffic

3 people are dead after a horrific overnight crash on I-94 in Taylor.

The incident occurred around 2:55 am Saturday on I-94 near Southfield Fwy.

According to MSP, a silver GMC Envoy was traveling eastbound when it ran off the roadway to the left and crossed the median into oncoming westbound traffic. A GMC Yukon and a motorcycle were struck by the Envoy.

The motorcycle was traveling in excess of 100 mph when it was struck, police said. The driver and passenger of the Envoy were killed instantly in the crash. The motorcyclist was also killed.

The driver of the Yukon was trapped in the vehicle and had to be cut out by Taylor Fire, police said. Both the driver and passenger of the Yukon were transported to the hospital and are currently in serious condition. The freeway was closed for the investigation.

Currently, it is unknown why the driver of the Envoy crossed the median, police say.
