2nd Hamtramck driving school shut down by state

The Michigan Department of State has shut down Conant Driving School LLC, marking the second Hamtramck driving school suspended this month. The school, located at 10323 Conant Street, allegedly violated the Driver Education Provider and Instructor Act (DEPIA).

According to an MDOS investigation, the school failed to:
• Maintain proper records of instruction
• Obtain signed student contracts
• Keep a safe classroom environment

Additionally, the school allegedly misrepresented its program by issuing completion certificates to students who did not complete the required 24 hours of classroom instruction. MDOS says further violations are under investigation.

MDOS regularly inspects driver education providers to ensure compliance with state laws. Anyone impacted by the suspension can contact the Driver Education Unit at DriverEd@Michigan.gov or call 517-241-6850 for assistance.
