One person is dead and two others were rushed to the hospital after a shooting in Rochester Hills.

The incident happened Monday evening near S. Rochester Road and W. South Blvd.

Sources tell us two people were shot. One victim later died at the hospital, while the condition of the second remains unknown.

The shooting itself appears to have taken place in the parking lot near the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites hotel in Rochester Hills.

We’re told one of the victims crashed into another vehicle in the city of Troy while trying to escape.

A person inside the vehicle that was struck was also transported to the hospital.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still unclear, but our crew observed what appeared to be a large bag of marijuana in the front passenger seat of one of the vehicles.

Oakland County Sheriff released the following statement:

“Our deputies responded to a chaotic incident that began in the Fairfield Inn parking lot and culminated in a traffic crash near Rochester Road and South Boulevard. While no one sustained serious injuries in the vehicle collision, two of the at least three individuals involved in the parking lot altercation were shot, and one has died. Three people connected to this incident have now been identified, and we are investigating to see if others were involved. At this time, there is not any ongoing threat to the public. As the investigation progresses, additional details will be released.”
