Michigan State Police are investigating a freeway shooting that sent two men to the hospital Tuesday.
The Detroit Regional Communication Center was alerted after gunshot victims showed up at a local hospital. The victims told police they had been shot while traveling on I-96 near Livernois.
According to investigators, the victims were riding in a passenger vehicle in the right-center lane when another vehicle pulled up on the right. Moments later, they heard four gunshots. The suspect vehicle continued driving, and the victims lost sight of it as they exited the freeway and drove to the hospital using surface streets.
A 57-year-old Detroit man, who was driving, was shot in the leg. A 22-year-old man sitting in the right rear seat was shot in the thigh. A 21-year-old man riding in the front passenger seat was not injured.
Investigators are working to determine exactly where the shooting took place and are trying to identify the suspect, the vehicle involved, and the possible motive.
