2 DPD cops arrested on alleged child abuse charges

2 Detroit police officers have been charged with several felonies after they allegedly abused their children.

The incident happened in the city of #Flint, where the married couple live.

The officers allegedly physically assaulted their 12-year-old and 15-year-old. According to reports, the parents allegedly used police tactical moves including putting the kids in a chokehold. When cops arrived at the home, they found red marks and scratches on the kid’s necks.

Jared and Liana Shaw face charges of
assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and child abuse charges.

“The Department can confirm that two Detroit Police Officers have been charged in connection to alleged child abuse that occurred in Genesee County while the officers were off-duty. Pursuant to DPD policy, this matter has been turned over to Internal Affairs, who will monitor the case. The involved members have been suspended pending the result of the investigation. The Flint Police Department is leading the criminal investigation into this matter.“
