2 dead including EMS worker after vehicle loses control & runs them over on I-75 in Detroit

Two people are dead, including an EMS worker, after a crash on I-75 in Detroit Sunday morning.

The crash happened at around 2:15 AM on I-75 Fwy near Grand Blvd.

Police say a private ambulance rig stopped to check on a one-car crash with the occupant of the crashed vehicle walking around.

As the EMS driver was helping the crashed victim, a vehicle driven by a 58-year-old male from Washington, MI, spun out and hit both the vehicle driver and the EMS driver.

The driver of the first crash, a 36-year-old female from Oak Park, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The EMS rig driver, a 38-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“The Move Over law saves lives,” said F/Lt Mike Shaw, Public Information Officer. “If you see an emergency vehicle with its lights on, slow down 10mph below the speed limit and move over. It really is that simple. Our prayers go out to both families dealing with this tragedy.”
