
A 19-year-old woman involved in the deadly Foot Locker shooting in Eastpointe has been formally charged and is set to be arraigned today.
Lakylia Sheila Taylor, 19, was charged with the following felonies, according to court records:
• Second-Degree Murder
• Felony Firearm
• Assault with Intent to Murder
• Tampering with Evidence
• Carrying a Concealed Weapon
She has retained the law office of Randall Upshaw.
The shooting took place on May 3 in the parking lot of a Foot Locker on Eight Mile Road in Eastpointe.
According to authorities, Taylor’s brother, Dejuan Jermain Taylor, got into a physical altercation with a group of three men. During the fight, Taylor was reportedly overpowered, prompting Lakylia to retrieve a firearm and allegedly open fire on the group, fatally shooting two and injuring one. Her brother was also injured in the incident.
Following the shooting, Dejuan Taylor allegedly picked up a firearm and magazines from the ground before fleeing the scene with his sister. He was later charged with Tampering with Evidence, Firearms Larceny, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and was arraigned with a $250,000 cash/surety bond.
Lakylia Taylor surrendered to authorities on May 5 after her attorney contacted police. She was arraigned today at 1 p.m. in 38th District Court and got a 2.5 Million Bond.
