Ex-boyfriend arrested in connection to disappearance of Warren mother

Police have arrested the ex-boyfriend on Wednesday in connection to the missing 30-year-old mother of two who has been missing since last week. Family now believes she was murdered but her body has not been located yet.

Ashley Elkins was reported missing by her family on Friday, after she failed to return home or respond to repeated phone calls and text messages.

State police crime and forensic team were at the ex-boyfriend’s apartment complex, in the area of Gratiot & I-696 on Tuesday.

To date, the police have executed nearly 20 search warrants, conducted video canvasses, examined digital evidence, and conducted interviews with friends and family members, according to a news release.

Police have determined that there was a strong possibility of foul play involved in this incident at the Hampton Court Apartments. Her vehicle, a silver Chevy Malibu, was recovered in the area of 13 Mile and Little Mack. Additionally, a trash dumpster from the Apartments was also seized.

According to her mother, she made multiple attempts to contact Ashley, only to receive one brief text message from Ashley’s phone, stating that she was “heading back from a beauty supply store.”

Family also says Ashley’s phone pinged at her ex-boyfriend apartment.
