A man was rescued from the Detroit River early Monday morning.
The man, who had reportedly been attempting to swim across the river to Canada, was pulled to safety by emergency responders after struggling in the cold waters.
Around 1 a.m., a fishermen at the heard the man’s yells for help and called 911. Detroit firefighters arrived on the scene and launched a rescue operation.
Rescue crews used a boat to reach the man and bring him back to shore. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, but no life-threatening injuries were reported, according to officials.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Detroit River, known for its strong currents and cold temperatures, can be dangerous for swimmers.
Just last month, a man was also rescued after attempting to swim from Canada to US.
