On Sunday, March 10, at 6:44 a.m., Dearborn Police apprehended three juvenile subjects ages 15 & 17, suspected of attempting to break into the Westborn Chrysler car dealership on Michigan Ave, and putting responding Police Officers’ safety at risk while on the scene.
Police identified the subjects leaving the dealership and located their vehicle in a nearby parking structure. Attempts to communicate with them to exit the vehicle were ignored.
The subjects then intentionally crashed into a marked police vehicle multiple times.
There were no injuries.
Officers apprehended the subjects, and the parents and guardians of all three were cited for violating the Parental Responsibility Act.
Chief Issa Shahin stated, “I am grateful to all of the officers on the scene for their diligence during this dangerous situation. Their work prevented harm while protecting the community and surrounding area. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but this incident could have resulted in a terrible tragedy. This is a serious reminder to all parents and guardians that they will be cited for any crimes that result from a juvenile in their care.”
