12 hospitalized after house fire in Farmington hills

A fire that broke out early Tuesday morning in Farmington Hills sent 12 people to the hospital — including four police officers who helped rescue the family inside.

The fire started around 5 a.m. at a home near 10 Mile and Middlebelt roads. Officers from the Farmington Hills Police Department were the first to arrive and found eight family members trapped inside. The victims ranged in age from just five months old to 27 years old.

Officials say at least two people were unconscious when they were pulled from the home. First responders rushed all eight family members and four officers to the hospital.

Three adults from the home and one police officer are currently in serious condition. The other hospitalized individuals — including all of the children — are expected to be okay. Fire crews also rescued two cats from the home.
