11-year-old girl loses four fingers after firework explodes in hand in River Rouge

An 11-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital after a firework exploded in her hand, causing severe injuries.

The incident occurred on Thursday, at around 5 p.m. at a home near Jefferson and Visger in River Rouge, Michigan.

Two twin sisters, both 11, found a firework at their home and lit it, mistaking it for a sparkler.

They attempted to take it outside, but it exploded in the kitchen while in the girls hands.

The girl’s four fingers were blown off and her sister also suffered injuries. They are expected to survive.
